Vikram Bhatt’s next a comeback for Karisma Kapoor?

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has apparently convinced actress Karisma Kapoor to make a comeback with his slick 3D thriller “Dangerous Ishq”.
Said a source close to the project: “Vikram has met Karisma several times. She loves the script of ‘Dangerous Ishq’. It has an author-backed role for her with many shades. Just the kind of character she has been looking for.”
“She has made up her mind to do the film,” the source added.
Bhatt was determined to get Karisma at any price. He could afford it after “Haunted”, which has become the highest-grossing horror film in India of all times.
Bhatt said: “Yes, ‘Haunted’ had made a huge profit. And yes I can afford to pay my stars well. It’s a powerful role for a 30-plus actress who is stunning and talented.”
Karisma, whose last screen appearance was in Suneel Darshan’s “Mere Jeevan Saathi” in 2002, has been in search of the right role to return to cinema with.

Bollywood fans in Toronto just got luckier – superstar Shah Rukh Khan is not just attending the forthcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend, but he will also enthrall the audience with a befitting finale performance at the awards ceremony June 25.
The actor has attended two editions of the IIFA Weekend in the past – in Singapore in 2004, and Amsterdam in 2005. He had last performed in the Singapore show.
“Shah Rukh Khan will be our finale performer for this year. He is returning to perform for us after seven years, and we are very excited,” Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft International Entertainment, the IIFA organiser, announced at a press conference here Thursday.
Shah Rukh has also been nominated in the best actor category for his performance as Rizwan Khan, a patient of Asperger’s syndrome, in Karan Johar’s “My Name Is Khan”. IIFA organisers are expecting a huge turnout of fans with Shah Rukh’s presence.
“He is a phenomenal performer and a huge star. He hasn’t been to Canada in a long time… so the kind of expectations that fans and people have of Shah Rukh is quite something!” Joseph told IANS.
Other performers at the star-studded event include Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan and the famous Deol family – veteran star Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby.

And Rakhi has not been mincing any words on her popularity ratings. “My Rakhi Ka Insaaf on the same channel (Imagine) had more viewership than Zor Ka Jhatka.”
And in her characteristic candour she declares, “Ek dum Zor Ka Jhatka laga hai!”
ZKJ opened with a 2.6 TVR but could not manage to attract audience in the second week and its average rating dropped to 1.7 to 1.4 TVR.
Rakhi Sawant’s Rakhi Ka Swayamvar opened with a rating of 4.12 TVR and maintained an average rating of 3.04 TVR.

Deepika’s ‘Dum’dar sexy look from DUM MAARO DUM

The cat is finally out of the bag. The first look of the much anticipated item number featuring Deepika Padukone, which was kept under wraps, is finally revealed. The song is the remixed version of the iconic song Dum Maaro Dum from HARE RAMA HARE KRISHNA.
Deepika, who will be seen gyrating to the sexy number, worked very hard for the look of the song. She worked out rigorously, and trained hard for the dance. The number which is one of the most awaited songs of the season, will Deepika in her most sexy avatar till date.
She was going to wear the shortest skirt, ever to be worn by a Bollywood actress, however, when she started doing her dance movements, she realised that her movements became awkward due the short skirt, and since Dum Maaro Dum song has some great dance movements they could be changed.
That’s when Deepika called director Rohan Sippy, and requested him to change her outfit a bit, as otherwise she was not being able to do justice to sensuous dance movements. Rohan immediately complied, and asked designer Anahita Adajania Shroff to change the outfit a bit. The outfit was finally changed to hot shorts, and tassels over it to give the look of a skirt. But, we are sure no one is complaining as Deepika is still looking fab in it.
Not just that Deepika had some very tough scenes to do in the song, like there was one scene, Deepika was required to have around 50-60 big, red ants crawling on her back. The scene was a very crucial one but Rohan Sippy was not keen on having Deepika do the scene, as it would be a very risky one.
However, Deepika being the thorough professional that she is, refused to use a body double, even though Rohan Sippy insisted on using one for the scene, as she felt that would not look authentic, and chose to do the scene herself.
Deepika had to have the crawlies on her back for almost half a day, as the scene had to be shot from various angles. Many times Deepika would be bitten by the ants, but not once did she complain. In fact, when the shot was over, Deepika‘s back was completely red due to the ant bites.
The gorgeous actress looks, smoking hot in the song, in fact, this is the first time that the item girl of a film, has made it to the poster of a film, that too solo.

After making failed attempts to make her mark in Bollywood, sexy Kashmira Shah is set to grab eyeballs by posing topless for a calendar. Its a calendar that exclusively features Kashmira, produced by Third Rock Entertainment, the calendar is called ‘Kashessentual’. Confirming the news, the excited Kashmira says “I’ve indeed got topless in one of the pictures of the calendar.” She adds that “People would be shocked when they will watch the pictures and that will be some type of benchmark to everyone who will be thinking upon doing a calendar”. The calendar will be released in the first week of March, 2011.

Shahid Kapoor denied permission to stay at Gwalior airbase

The over-hyped news reports about the F-16 that Shahid flew as part of his role as an air force pilot was just much ado about nothing meant to camouflage the real story about Shahid's air force training for his role in Pankaj Kapoor's Mausam.
The shooting started from Wednesday at the Gwalior airbase. Every attempt was made to keep the venue and the dynamics of Shahid's air force activities a secret.
Says a source, "Permission to shoot at the Gwalior airbase has been secured after clearance from the highest levels in the Capital on condition that there would be no disturbance or disruption in the airbase routine of any sort whatsoever."
To ensure that the Mausam crew's presence in Gwalior was not revealed to the people of Gwalior, the entire crew has been instructed to stay at the airbase.
This is where the problem crept in. Plans to house Shahid within the airbase had to be aborted after being defined as a "security hazard".
Says a source, "On a trial visit to the Gwalior base, it was discovered that the cadets at the airbase could not focus on their duties with Shahid in their midst. He has therefore been instructed to seek accommodation in a hotel while the rest of the crew will stay at the airbase."
Producer Sheetal Talwar refuses to divulge any details on the whereabouts of the airbase shooting. "All I can tell you is, we are now shooting all the scenes of Shahid's as an air force pilot in the next one week."

Mausam The Upcoming Movie

It has been predicted that 2011 will undoubtedly be the year for sequels in Indian cinema. However, one such film which won’t be a second or third installment is Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam. Starring his son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, the movie will see Shahid play the role of a pilot which, if rumours are to be believed, has a likeness with Tom Cruise’s character in Top Gun.
With the tag-line “A timeless love story” and recently revealed first looks of a unique nature, the film is said to be one of the most romantic stories of recent times. The posters give a regal feel and fans can be forgiven if reminded of a look which draws similarities to 1942 - A Love Story. The two posters that Shahid tweeted on Valentine’s Day as the “Season of love” are cleverly designed in warm and cold colours, in keeping with the “Mausam” theme. The eternal element is brought in only when looking at both posters at once where it is noticeable that one attempts to encompass a love story with the innocence of yesteryear whereas the other depicts a contemporary pose between the two protagonists.
Mausam is already creating waves of expectations for fans and industry folk with the freshness that comes along with it. The movie will see Shahid in a role very different to any other he has portrayed before. The actor was recently reported to have to fly an F-16 fighter jet for his role and was honoured to do so. A source close to the event revealed, “Shahid couldn’t drink any liquid 4 hours before flight n couldn’t eat anything 16 hours before, except for two chocolate bars before flying”.
The movie will also give birth to a fresh new jodi in Bollywood. Although at first glance, Shahid and Sonam may seem like an unlikely pair, their coming together will be interesting to say the least. It has been said that the two shared a good rapport whilst shooting and their tweets while in filming in Scotland reflect just that. Stories were rife about Sonam’s refusal to kiss the chocolate boy Shahid on-screen but on the whole, it seems the duo will set the screen on fire in a sweet and romantic sense.

We all know that Bollywood films have a huge market in the overseas and this has proved to be beneficial to debutante director Kiran Rao whose film Dhobi Ghat was picked up by German distributors Rapid Eye Movies. They will be releasing the film in German theatres later this year.
Dhobi Ghat tells the story of four people from different backgrounds, whose worlds intersect and leave them forever altered. As they find themselves drawn into compelling relationships, the city finds its way into the crevices of their lives, separating them even as it brings them closer. The film which was screened last year at the Toronto International Film Festival met with critical acclaim and also garnered rave reviews back home.
The deal is said to include theatrical distribution rights, home video rights and free TV rights. What's more is that the producer of the film Aamir Khan, is currently on the jury at the Berlin Film Festival.

Ranbir singh Drops Shaad Ali's Flim

It is come to know from sources that Ranveer Singh’s climb to
stardom has alienated him from many. Says an industry source, “Band
Baaja Baraat” has changed Ranveer’s fortunes but he has made himself
completely inaccessible to prospective producers. Even prominent
filmmakers are expected to go through his business manager, while still
risking being turned down.”
Ranveer’s next involves the “Band Baaja Baraat” team. But, the actor seems to have forgotten about a project he was to do with Shaad Ali.
Ranveer and Shaad go back a long way. He assisted Shaad in directing “Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom” and the two became close friends. Says a source, “Shaad showed Ranveer around in the industry introduced him to important filmmakers. Ranveer has come this far partly because of Shaad’s support.”
But Ranveer has chosen to do Maneesh Sharma’s, “Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl” instead. The Yash Raj Films spokesperson says, “We never announced a film with Shaad Ali featuring Ranveer Singh. Ranveer’s next involves the “Band Baaja Baraat” team. But, the actor seems to have forgotten about a project he was to do with Shaad Ali.

Kareena Kapoor to play Dawood’s girlfriend in Once Upon A Time In Mumbia sequel

Once Upon A Time in Mumbai is a film inspired by the controversial life of Dawood Ibrahim. Ekta Kapoor has found her Dawood, in Akshay Kumar, but is now faced with the challenge of finding an actress, for the character Mandakini, who was allegedly involved with Dawood.
In part one of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Amy Kingston’s resemblance to Mandakini, won her the role, as a one-night partner of Dawood, played by Emraan Hashmi.
A source close to the film tells us, “The second part of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is going to be on a much bigger canvas and hence Balaji is looking at a top actress to play the female lead. It would be either Kareena or Vidya.
Mandakini’s character needs an actress who can emote very strongly. Kareena and Vidya best fit the bill.”
